This past weekend, while outlining Brick Ransom’s third adventure, I came across something I’ve mentioned in the past, but which I thought I had lost years ago.
16 years ago, while working as a bookseller at R. J. Julia in Madison, CT, I waited on a customer who came in to special order a book. After he left, I wrote his name on the back of a bookmark, as I thought it would be the perfect name for a hard boiled detective in a screenplay or novel. It took me thirteen years, but I finally used that name. He’s now my signature character:
With today’s announcement that R. J. Julia is up for sale, I thought there was no better time to share this little birth certificate with everyone.
If you’re in the area, why not swing by one of the country’s greatest bookstores and buy “Seattle On Ice” in the place where it all began?
The most exciting news in 2012 so far?
“Seattle On Ice” is now at Elliott Bay Book Company, the best indie bookstore in Seattle! Would have been ideal to have the book in there for the snow and ice storms last week, but I’m hoping local readers still have snowpocalypse 2012 fresh in their minds and the cover will jump out at them as a result.
If you happen to be in Seattle, you should swing by my favorite bookstore and look for the book!
Seattle, Washington 98122
Hope you’re enjoying my books!
Had quite a few sales over the past week. Hope everyone who bought them is enjoying my books. Please post some reviews if Seattle On Ice and Billionaires, Bullets, Exploding Monkeys tickle your fancies.
Happy New Year!
It’s true! Sales have been going up and down a bit this week, but at one point both of my Brick Ransom books were in the top 10 for Action Adventure titles!
They’re still doing really well! The current numbers are as follows:

Looking for the perfect gift? Whether they’re from Seattle or not, they’re sure to love “Seattle On Ice.” Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Cousin Joe, and Betsy Sue Whatsername (the deadbeat couch-surfer), they’re all sure to love this one. Buy a copy for everyone on your list!
You can send em the $2.99 Kindle edition Or better yet, make em think you pulled out all the stops! The paperback is only $9.95, but we left the price off the cover, so you can say you spent $20, $30, $40! They’ll believe you too, cause this is the prettiest durned book you ever saw!

Like the secret love child of Dirty Harry and Martha Stewart, Brick Ransom is a rookie cop with a taste for fine dining and zero patience for slovenly deadbeats and criminal scum.
In the middle of a rare Northwest blizzard, Brick is forced to cut his dinner short in order to protect three key witnesses – a bookkeeper, a stripper, and a deadly assassin – all of whom are set to testify against Seattle crime boss Frank Mason the next morning. When a gunman ambushes the first witness en route to his downtown hotel, and Brick’s partner is killed in the crossfire, it’s quickly apparent that moles within the police force are leaking the whereabouts of each witness back to Mason in a last-ditch effort to keep the criminal kingpin from ever standing trial.
As the storm worsens, and the city freezes to a standstill, it’s up to Brick Ransom to protect the last two witnesses, outwit Frank Mason’s team of killers and crooked cops, and do his best to ignore his growling stomach, all while struggling to contain his growing fascination with Witness #2.
With its signature blend of dark humor and page-turning action, Seattle On Ice is Mike Attebery’s most exciting book yet!
Course, Stephen King wants to remind me who is still boss (or should I say “King”):
All the files and artwork for the print and Kindle editions of Seattle On Ice are uploaded and working their way through the system. Fingers crossed that all goes well. We just may make the November 15th release date!
